Three days is a lovely amount of time on Gozo: enough to see the island’s highlights without rushing, and still leave long evenings on the roof terrace. This is the plan we suggest to guests on a first visit.

Village, square and sunsetDay 1: Arrive and settle into Xagħra

Cross from Malta in the morning (see getting here from the airport), check in from 15:00 and take it slowly. Walk around the square, look into the basilica, and wander the lanes behind it to get your bearings. Dinner close by, then a drink on the roof terrace as the basilica lights up.

The north of the islandDay 2: Temples, red sand and the sea

Start early at the Ġgantija Temples and Ta’ Kola Windmill, both an easy walk from the house. Late morning, head down to Ramla l-Ħamra, stopping at the lookout beside Calypso’s Cave for the view over the bay. Spend the afternoon on the red sand, then finish with a swim and an early dinner by the water in Marsalforn.

Citadel, cliffs and sunsetDay 3: Victoria and the west coast

Drive or take the bus into Victoria and climb up to the Citadel while it is still cool, for views across almost the whole island. Have lunch near It-Tokk square below. In the afternoon, head west to Dwejra to see the Inland Sea and the cliffs where the Azure Window stood until it collapsed in 2017, or to Xlendi for a swim in its narrow bay. Stay for the sunset on the west coast before driving back to Xagħra.

If you have longer

Whatever you choose, the evenings are best spent back on the square. If you would like help planning your days, just ask when you book.
